About AsItIs
I'm Rohith Katta. I'm building AsItIs on my own, from India. It's one word, AsItIs, and it lives at asitis.app.
What AsItIs is
ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot save their answers as markdown. In the chat it looks fine. Paste it into Word or an email and you get stars, hash marks and tables made of vertical bars.
AsItIs is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that opens that file and shows it as a clean document: real headings, bold text, lists and tables. You fix what you want, then send a PDF or a Word file. When you save, only what you edited changes. Nothing changes unless you change it.
The app is still in development. The paid beta goes to the waitlist first. It will be free to open, edit and save, with a plain PDF. Pro adds the polished PDF and Word exports for $29, paid once. How it works and pricing have the details.
What you can use today
- ChatGPT to Word and PDF: paste an answer from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and download a Word file or a PDF. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
- The Claude Code plugin and the @asitis/mcp server: a free, read-only linter for CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, SKILL.md and the rules files other coding agents read. It's MIT licensed and the source is on GitHub.
- The steering file checker: the same linter in your browser. Paste a file and see what it finds.
- The round-trip benchmark: what common editors do to a markdown file you open and save without editing. The repository is public.
- Guides for the questions I kept running into, from getting a ChatGPT table into Excel to writing a CLAUDE.md that works.
The name and the mark
The logo is the proofreader's stet sign: a word with three dots under it. In editing, dots under a passage mean "let it stand", leave it exactly as it was. That's the promise of the app, drawn instead of written.
